Water Rebate Programs

LCRA WaterSmart Rebates for WTCPUA Customers

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) offers WaterSmart rebates to help WTCPUA customers save water and reduce their water bills. These rebates can cover up to 50% of the cost—up to $600 per property—for qualifying water-saving equipment and landscape improvements. Please confirm with LCRA if you qualify for the specific rebate offered.

Available Rebates

Irrigation System Evaluations

  • Customers may qualify for a rebate of up to $100 when they hire a licensed irrigator to perform a professional evaluation of their irrigation system.

  • A completed evaluation checklist and itemized receipt are required for the rebate.

Irrigation Equipment

  • Rebates are available for upgrading irrigation systems with more efficient equipment, including:

    • Pressure-reducing sprinkler heads and nozzles

    • Pressure-reducing valves and in-line pressure regulators

    • Soil moisture sensors

    • Rain sensors

    • WaterSense smart irrigation controllers

    • Hose-end timers

  • LCRA will reimburse 50% of the cost, up to specified limits for each item.

Landscape Improvements

  • Turf Conversion: Replace at least 200 square feet of healthy turf with native or drought-tolerant plants and receive $0.50 per square foot (up to $600). Pre-approval is required.

  • Compost and Mulch: Get reimbursed for 50% of the cost, up to $600 per household.

  • Mechanical Aeration: Receive 50% of equipment rental or contractor cost, up to $100.

  • Soil Testing: Get up to $50 back for tests from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension or 50% of the cost (up to $125) for tests from Texas Plant and Soil Lab.

Pool Efficiency Upgrades

  • Pool Filters: Get up to $250 back for high-efficiency cartridge filters.

  • Pool Covers:

    • 50% of the cost, up to $50 for manual covers or solar rings

    • 50% of the cost, up to $200 for permanent mechanical pool covers

How to Apply

  1. Purchase and install eligible equipment or complete eligible work.

  2. Save all itemized receipts.

  3. Take clear photos of installed equipment or completed landscape improvements.

  4. Gather your average monthly water usage (found on your water bill).

  5. Submit your application within 90 days of installation.
